Colin is from Manchester but now lives in the Peak District. He was a newspaper journalist before joining the BBC where he worked for 30 years in radio and television news. He started as a reporter at BBC Radio Manchester before moving to Radio Sheffield where he produced the breakfast show. After a year’s attachment at BBC Westminster he returned to Radio Manchester as News Editor and Deputy Manager. He spent 15 years in television with North West Tonight as a producer and then on screen as Environment Correspondent. He ran the pilot programmes when North West Tonight moved to its new state of the art studio which it shares with BBC Breakfast at Media City in Salford. He left the BBC in 2013 and now teaches broadcast journalism at the University of Sheffield.
