The National Trust was founded in 1865 by a trio of people dedicated to looking after the nation’s coastline, historic sites, countryside and green spaces . One of its founders, Octavia Hill wrote:

‘We all want quiet.  We all want beauty…We all need space.  Unless we have it, we cannot reach that sense of quiet in which whispers of better things come to us gently’.

Today the National Trust is Europe’s largest conservation charity. Their gardens are a place where you can achieve that sense of quiet and space Octavia Hill writes about. This time of year daffodils are in bloom so click below to find out where to see them and enjoy them in all their splendour.
