The BBCPA Travel Insurance Scheme is due for renewal from 1st April 2021.

Grant Whiskin, from CSIS, the Scheme Administrator, has written about the NEW changes to the Scheme with regards to Covid-19.

“We know times have been challenging and for our part, in support of BBCPA, we have been working to continue to provide a level of appropriate and reliable cover to members.  This is especially important as travel recommences aided by the rollout of a vaccination programme, further enabling the easing of travel restrictions.  In respect of COVID-19 related risks while BBCPA 50Plus Travel insurance covers Emergency Medical and Repatriation Expenses, from 1st April it will also provide for COVID-19 Cancellation and Curtailment (your trip being cut short) should you be medically unfit to travel, a positive test within 14 days of the travel date or while abroad.

In addition, the policy continues to provide for the further risks we have come to expect, for example baggage, lost or stolen money, valuables, passports etc, travel delay, missed departure and even cruise ship evacuation.  Travel must not though be undertaken against the advice of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) with cover subject to the policy term and conditions.

Moreover – and a unique feature for annual travel insurance – from the scheme renewal 1st April we will introduce a ‘Buy With Confidence’ refund guarantee.  That means if you buy insurance and don’t travel or change plans (you haven’t and won’t use the policy), then we will provide a pro rata refund of premium.  Due to the nature of annual travel insurance (multi-trip) there is usually only a limited, 14 day, ‘Cooling Off’ period for a rebate to be given.

In all, we remain the travel insurer of choice for many BBCPA members.  A valued partnership that has been in place for a number of years and one that will continue into the future, with no medical screening requirement (simply meet the ‘Eligibility’ criteria).  We know aspirations to travel for new adventure, new sights or merely to visit friends and family overseas will be back on the agenda as we move through 2021 and beyond.  We hope you will travel with us.”
