In 2025, BBC pension members residing overseas may need to provide a certificate of existence to BBC Pensions to continue receiving payments. This requirement is standard for overseas pensioners and is a measure to ensure payments are made correctly and to potentially reduce the risk of fraudulent claims. Some UK BBC pensioners (chosen at random) also have to provide proof of existence. In the near future it is hoped that you will be able to verify your existence online. This will involve a person taking a picture of their passport and then take a selfie so that it verifies them. Then there will be no need to ask anyone to sign.
The Government does send ‘life certificates’ to people who receive the State Pension abroad in order to verify they are still alive and still qualify to receive their State Pension whilst living abroad.
