ROYAL VOLUNTARY SERVICE (RVS)

This charity was founded in 1938 and was originally called the Women’s Voluntary Services for Air Raid Precautions. The WVS was involved in many aspects of wartime life and after the war became involved in social care.  In 2013 their title changed to the RVS and the Queen is their patron.  They are the largest volunteering organisation in British history.  More information available about the organisation @ https://www.royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk/

It is no surprise then that they have produced resources which support older people to stay well and warm this winter.  Their Stay Safe, Well and Warm booklet is available here as a PDF https://bit.ly/39gmI0u.  They have a section about Covid 19 and lots of tips.  There is also a virtual Village Hall offering a wide range of online activities to take part in. Sessions include creative arts & crafts, music and singing, cooking and baking, dance and exercise, and technology skills are led by a variety of people such as expert tutors, RVS activity coordinators & volunteers and some well-known faces.  Click on this link https://www.royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk/virtual-village-hall/
