The BBCPA could not let the 100 Centenary of the BBC slip by without our own event to mark this special year for the BBC. It is happening on 2nd November in the Council Chamber of Broadcasting House. If you have never visited this room in old Broadcasting House it is worth coming along to our event just to see the room. Part of the original Broadcasting House, the historic Council Chamber’s oak panelled room has portraits of former DG’s of the BBC around the room. Pride of place above an elegant fireplace, is the portrait of Lord Reith. We will be screening the classic BBC production ‘This Is The BBC’ about a day in the life of Radio and Television in 1959 made by esteemed documentary maker, Richard Cawston. The British Entertainment History Project (formerly the BECTU History Project) will be presenting a profile of the unsung hero of the early days of television at Alexandra Palace– Dallas Bower. It will be a special afternoon in historic surroundings. All details below including a link to register your FREE place with Eventbrite.
